Launch Event
We are excited to invite you to the launch of the UK HE Chaplains Together Community of Practice (CoP) series, taking place online on Thursday 28 May at 10:00am.
This first session is entitled “New religions on campus: assessing risk and supporting students”. We will be joined by Dr Sarah Harvey, a long-standing researcher with Inform, who will share insights from her extensive experience in the field. You can find out more about Dr Harvey and Inform below. Following Dr Harvey’s presentation, there will be a Q&A, followed by breakout rooms offering space for further discussion and networking.
This launch session will also be used to trial the format of the Community of Practice series, with feedback welcomed. From September onwards, we will be running monthly CoP sessions, shaped by participant input and emerging themes.

Dr Sarah Harvey has been a researcher with Inform since 2001. She has 25 years experience researching and providing information about a variety of new religious movements and answering the enquiries which Inform receives. She has also worked on various projects including Abuse in Religious Contexts (2022-2024) and Understanding the Experiences of Spirit Mediums (2019-2021).
Inform is an independent educational charity which provides information about new and minority religions which is as accurate, up-to-date and as evidence-based as possible. We exist to prevent harm based on misinformation about new religions by bringing the insights and methods of academic research into the public domain. Founded in 1988, we have been based in the Theology and Religious Studies Department at King's College, London since 2018.
